These past several months have been a challenge for every parent around the globe. Even if they have remained healthy throughout the pandemic, adapting to the new normal might have been difficult for each family member. Many parents are still going out of their way to make these months fun and educational for their little ones. Luckily, those living in Cincinnati have a bit easier task ahead of them since this city still offers many indoor and outdoor activities. So, let’s take a look at some fun things to do with kids in Cincinnati!

What is it that drives families to Cincinnati?

More than two million people call Cincinnati their home. Many of them decided to move here from states that are as far as Colorado, Arizona, Nevada, Idaho, or Montana. What is so specific about the city is that it offers excellent career opportunities, education, healthcare, and sports activities. All of those are crucial for raising a family, so young families don’t find it too difficult to plan out the whole process of relocation and find their happiness here. They know that family fun is guaranteed!

Cincinnati Zoo

Let’s start with one of the two attractions Cincinnati is most famous for. The iconic zoo has a long tradition of being a favorite place for families with kids. For more than 145 years, it has been home to hundreds of animals and even more plant species. If this is the first time you are taking your little ones to the Cincinnati Zoo, which we sincerely doubt, prepare for them to fall in love with Fiona, the friendly hippo nobody can resist.

If your little ones are fans of giraffes, they will have a fantastic time feeding them at the zoo. Just make sure that you have enough room on your camera to capture all the incredible moments you and your family will share at the zoo!

Coney Island

Even though sunny days and water adventures are the first things to come to mind when Coney Island is mentioned, there are still ways you can enjoy their content all-year-round. At the moment, they are hosting the largest synchronized light show in the city. You will probably agree that this is one of the best things to do with kids in Cincinnati. From the comfort of your car and at a safe distance from others, you will be able to enjoy two miles of Christmas lights.

Smale Riverfront Park

We cannot talk about all-year-round entertainment without mentioning Smale Riverfront Park. It offers recreational, as well as entertainment and leisure activities to its visitors. Pack some sandwiches, juices, and a blanket, and you will have an awesome picnic in the park with your family. The good thing about this place is that you do not need to make a reservation, and you can stop by any time you are downtown. So, even if you are in the middle of something, like packing for relocation, for instance, you can take your little ones to use up some energy here while the guys from the moving company load your possessions onto their trucks.

Spending time outside is extremely important not only for our physical health but also for our state of mind. It has never been more important than this year after we have all spent countless hours cooped up inside our homes. So, taking your kids to parks whenever you can and encouraging them to be more active should be your priorities. Luckily, you will find all you can think of in the Smale Riverfront Park – from playgrounds and gardens to walkways and restaurants.

Highfield Discovery Garden

Highfield Discovery Garden is a place equally enjoyed by all generations. The 25-foot Discovery Tree will make you think you are in some kind of a fairytale, while the seven smaller gardens will be just enough for you to explore during the entire day:

  • Wizard’s Garden – fairytale elements all around you;
  • Frog & Toads Garden – a lot of frogs surround the precious lily pads;
  • Trolley Garden – see some small scale trains running and favorite fairytale characters around them;
  • Grandma’s Scent Garden – the little ones can sit and have a tea party here;
  • Morph Garden – you will see a lot of caterpillars here;
  • Butterfly Garden – even the garden is shaped like a butterfly;
  • Vegetable Garden – your kids can learn something about the veggies they eat every day, but they can also see some that are not so common;

Newport Aquarium

Get your tickets in advance since that is the only way you can visit Newport Aquarium at the moment. Once you do that, you will be able to have some safe family fun inside and even explore the new exhibit called Shipwreck Realm of the Eels. Of course, you can still enjoy overlooking the shark tank, be a part of an interactive sea horse exhibition, visit Gator Alley, and find out many fun facts about the sea world.

Places like these are great when you want to avoid being exposed to carbon-monoxide problems in winter, stay inside, and still have some quality time with your kids.

The list includes just some of the most iconic places and fun things to do with kids in Cincinnati. We are confident you will have no trouble finding something your entire family can enjoy. We are also sure you will never be bored in Cincinnati and that you will spend a lot of quality time and have tremendous amounts of fun with the ones you love most.
