Nestled in east central Butler county between the cities of Fairfield, Middletown, Mason and West Chester, Liberty Township is 28 square miles of mostly rolling countryside. It offers both rural and suburban living opportunities, and all but a small corner of the township is within the highly regarded Lakota School District.
The township has no income tax and is governed by three elected trustees, an elected fiscal officer, and a professional administrator and there are dedicated road and fire departments to support the 33,000 residents. Policing is provided by the Butler County Sheriff.
The township boasts three public golf courses, Valley Vista, Greencrest, and Pleasant Hill. There are also 9 Township parks (plus two additional parks under construction) ranging in size from seven to sixty-three acres. The parks offer a variety of activities including playgrounds, hiking, soccer and picnicking. In addition, this area is a favorite of local cyclists, who enjoy the rolling terrain, light traffic, and good roads.
With I-75 along the eastern edge of the township and the SR129 freeway extending west from I-75 along the southern edge of the township, the area is poised for growth. Cincinnati Children’s Medical Hospital, the Liberty Campus has made it’s mark in the Township and is easily seen when traveling on I-75 or SR- 129.
In 2010, the Liberty Way interchange to I-75 was completed, the result of a Joint Economic Development District (established in 2006 with Middletown and Mason) to fund infrastructure and promote commercial development. Rapid development is anticipated in this area.
