Time To “Plan” Your Garden!

It’s time to start planning your spring garden- not actually planting-just planning.
It might be cold and snowy today but pretty soon Spring will arrive. Looking to add new flowers and plants to your exterior requires advanced planning.
Many big box stores are already displaying seed packets for sale. Local nurseries are ready-to-go seedlings and advice if you don’t know what species of plants are best for your area. I found the Almanac Planting Calendar. Just input your zip code and view specific information on what will live in your area. More importantly, it tells you when to move seed starters outside.
Over the years we have “tried” to grow a variety of vegetables and spices. Our biggest success was pumpkins one year. The night before we had planned on giving to the neighborhood kids, an animal or animals stuffed their stomachs with our pumpkins.
