2020 and 2021 restrictions and spacing pumped up bicycling as an exercise for everyone. For months there was a shortage of bicycles available for sale. And warmer weather brings all sorts of pedalers to neighborhoods, streets, and trails.
Ohio HB154 requires motorists to have at least 3 feet of clearance when passing bicycles on the road. On busy and narrow roads the 3-foot rule can be hard to follow. The best approach is to be patient and wait until oncoming traffic clears before passing on rural roads. City biking and drivers present a whole new set of opportunities. Both sides need to mind the rules to keep everybody safe.
