Cincinnati architecture styles are always an interesting topic.

The CincyMLS (like many other MLS’s) is behind today’s architecture which limits what buyers and agents can search for when looking for a home or condo.

List of home styles in MLSMost local Cincinnati buyers are looking for “Traditional” or “Transitional” homes.

However, some buyers have their heart set on a “Mid-Century Modern” or “Contemporary” style home. The chart lists options when searching for a specific type of architecture.  But some properties aren’t always listed correctly when it comes to architectural style.

For example, buyers wanting “Contemporary” may have to search in both”Transitional” as well as “Contemporary” styles.  Some homes are hard to define. And in Cincinnati Realtors® want to reach the most buyers so contemporary styles may be listed as transitional to capture more eyeballs.

And to be honest architectural styles is somewhat subjective for buyers and sellers.

Somebody wants a traditional home but what they really want is a traditional exterior look and a transitional interior.

Many local buyers only search by the number of bedrooms, bathrooms, and price.  One story versus two-story homes is not an architectural style but often comes up as a buyer style requirement.

And just in case you’re wondering the CincyMLS currently shows 25 Cabin/Rustic, 0 Geodesic, 2 Eclectic, 1617 Traditional and 77 Colonial style active single family home listings.
