Opening Day for Cincinnati Reds

Opening Day for Cincinnati Reds

reds opening day

“Reds” Opening Day is an unofficial holiday for greater Cincinnati!

The original opening day- March 29th was delayed until today because of weather.  Hopefully, it won’t snow today!

Playing baseball

This year baseball fans will be celebrating opening day twice. The first opening day game against the Nationals when the first pitch of the year marks the start of our  season at Great American Ballpark

Today the whole town loves the Cincinnati Reds and if we’re not at the park for the game…we’re watching it on tv, sneaking quick looks at streaming video or … listening to the radio.  First pitch at 4:10 pm

It’s hard for outsiders to understand but on opening day in Cincinnati everybody loves baseball and is a fan.  In simple to understand terms – – we’re (unofficially) not open for any business but baseball today.

Things are a little weird this year.  Around the country, opening day is earlier than normal.  Hosting the traditional parade in the middle of Easter grocery shopping frenzy didn’t seem like a great idea for the vendors at Findlay Market.  So next Monday is the 2nd official opening day with the traditional Findlay Market opening day parade followed by a baseball game against the Cubs

Who knows maybe Cincinnati will decide a 5 day opening day celebration works better for everybody next year.
