Cincinnati Streetcar

After years of wrangling and then construction, the Cincinnati Streetcar (Cincinnati Bell Connector) is ready to make its debut on September 9, 2016.

New to streetcars?  Check out these brief videos on how to ride,  general safety and pedestrians. (check out all the videos here)

The Cincinnati Bell Connector will start operating at noon on the 9th with free service. The streetcar will operate 18 hours a day 365 days a year and I can this becoming a popular holiday ride as merchants and downtown offices gear up for the holiday.  The route (map) runs from downtown Cincinnati to Over-the-Rhine. The 3.6 mile loop with 18 stops starting at 2nd Street @ The Banks and ends (for now) at Henry Street in Over-the-Rhine.

The cost to ride the streetcar-

  • The fare is $1 for two hours and $2 for a day pass.  Individuals with Metro’s Fare deal card can buy a $0.50 two-hour ticket.
  • Children between 35 and 45 inches may also purchase a $0.50 half-fare two-hour ticket. Children under 35 inches ride free and children over 45 inches pay full fare regardless of age.

It will probably take us a few months to adjust to the “rules of etiquette” while  driving and crossing the downtown streets and remembering the new streetcar is running.
