Ohio Tax Holiday

Christmas in August?
This coming weekend August 7-9
–Ohio Tax Holiday.

Shoppers in Ohio will enjoy the first ever exemption from paying sales tax on all clothing and footwear up to $75 per item and certain school supplies up to $20 per item.

Make sure you understand the ins and outs of the tax holiday.  For example if you buy 4 back packs you won’t pay taxes as long as each item costs $20 or less.

As area stores prepare for the event -super shoppers will be heading out at midnight aiming for stores open 24 hrs.  School supplies and clothes should be the big sellers over the weekend -so experts are suggesting that shoppers expect crowds and plan accordingly.  Unfortunately Ohio did not include computers or tablets in the tax holiday.

Hopefully the weekend will be successful enough for the Ohio legislature to continue next year -and may add some electronic items to the list.

If you aren’t shopping for back-to-school items -think about the upcoming holidays and what you plan on giving to family and friends.  Might as well take advantage of the savings.

Happy Shopping!
