Happy Birthday George Washington!

Celebrating Presidents Day in Greater Cincinnati

Even though the actual date is February 22nd, today we remember George Washington’s Birthday and the Federal holiday celebrating Presidents Day. And while many government offices and businesses are closed today, it’s important to remember the significance of the holiday is far more meaningful than finding sale items at the mall.

A few years ago I wrote…” The meaning of this holiday seems have blurred over the years – watching images of George Washington and Abraham Lincoln dancing to highlight a Presidents Days sale of mattresses.”

I don’t think much has changed when it comes to what people in greater Cincinnati feel is valuable.

“…As residents living in greater Cincinnati, Mason, West Chester or Fairfield cope with problems with the economy, employment and the real estate market- maybe we need to fall back on core values in the housing market. A home used to be an investment because we enjoy living in “it” and not just an investment to be bought and sold like stocks on Wall Street. Maybe if we remember the history of why people purchased property we could fashion government regulations to support our core values.”
