Mall Walking in Greater Cincinnati

Mall Walking in Greater Cincinnati

Cincinnati Walking Shoes

It’s snowing again and Cincinnatians are tired of snow, cold and just being stuck inside.

Fortunately for most of us there are indoor shopping malls spread throughout the metropolitan area offering walkers a place to stretch their legs.  Probably the best mall for walkers is Cincinnati Mall  (I-275 & Winton Rd).  It’s huge and desolate.  Plans have been announced for another renovation- in the meantime if you had the courage- you could probably jog inside without seeing more than a few people.

Northgate Mall, located on Colerain Avenue south of I- 275  boasts that one lap equals about 8/10 of a mile.  A little further east (but still on the west side of town) is Tri County Mall .  Immediately off I-275 & Princeton Pike in Springdale and one lap around both levels is about a mile.

For the walkers living on the near east side of Cincinnati, Kenwood Towne Centre  (I-71 & Montgomery Rd)  provides about the same walk as Tri County Mall- one lap around both levels is about a mile.  Still heading east along I-275 and you can walk about 3/4 mile by making one loop inside Eastgate Mall .  And for those residing on the far east side- Anderson Towne Center(formerly Beechmont Mall) sits on Beechmont Avenue & Five Mile.  My notes indicate walkers in the old mall needed 2 laps to reach a mile- however I can’t find any up-to-date information about the newly renovated mall.

Put on those walking shoes and start getting into shape for spring.  If you’re looking to move to a neighborhood that is “walker friendly”- let me know and I’ll be glad to help.
