Cincinnati is looking for your input about biking in the city and while colder weather has us again- biking season is just around the corner.
The dream of connecting all the biking paths and trails around greater Cincinnati has been the dream of area cyclists for a long, long time. The City formalized a Bicycle Plan in 2010 and according to the authors…”The 15-year plan integrates bicycle paths into many areas of the city with 445 miles of on-street and off-street facilities to be implemented. Cyclists will look forward to enjoying bicycle lanes, shared lanes as well as paths or trails and sidewalks designated for bicycle use.”.
Hopefully during 2013 work scheduled on Riverside Drive and Spring Grove Avenue will be completed. The easiest way to track updates and happenings is to follow @CincyBikes on Twitter. As our family took up biking (some more than others) the adventure of going beyond the Loveland Bike Path started my husband on a biking quest which started with dumping him off near Yellow Springs and retrieving him (many many hours later) in Newtown. Now the “trail” has added many miles for the locals to enjoy and the ability to enjoy “urban biking” may even bring me back to cycling.
