I love new homes and one built to raise money for one my favorite charities makes this one a winner.

Have you heard of the St. Jude Dream Home® Giveaway in Cincinnati?

St Jude is a pediatric treatment and research facility located in Memphis Tn. and before you wonder why anyone should buy a “chance’ to win a home here while the proceeds head south- many families in our area rely on St Jude every day.  Yesterday I had the opportunity to chat with a northern Kentucky dad about how much St Jude hospital means to his family.  His daughter was diagnosed with Optic Pathway Glioma at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital.  The prognosis was not great, 2 years of chemo and the loss of sight in one eye.  Her dad wanted a second opinion and moved heaven and earth in order to obtain a referral to St. Jude.  Long story short after 22 months of treatment (a grueling schedule which required shuttling to Memphis for 10 days followed by  5 days at home-then back to Memphis for the next 10 day stretch) she has sight in both eyes, is in remission and is celebrating her 12th birthday.

Total bill for St Jude- $3.7 million dollars and the family didn’t pay one cent to save their daughter’s eyesight and life.

One of the ways St Jude raises the money to provide state of the art medical coverage is by teaming with local businesses throughout the country to build the  “St Jude Dream Home”.  Locally your chance to win the $400,000 home costs $100.  You can purchase the ticket online or by visiting the model this weekend.  Of course, once you’re wandering through the Fischer built home don’t forget to register for prizes.  This year’s Dream Home is located in the Miami Bluffs Community, Hamilton Township.  Interested in seeing news coverage about the local home check out FOX19 news.

   Hi all,

   I staged that home along with Katie Whitman; another designer from our Morris Design team in Tri County for St. Jude. The furniture was all selected from our store at Morris Home Furnishings in Tri County. It’s a fabulous home and a great cause for childhood cancer. It’s worth the $100 for a chance to win this beautiful home but you also can sign up for a chance to win a $10,000 shopping spree with Morris Home Center. This coming weekend it will be open so stop out and tour the home. I’ll be there for the drawing on the 29th. It’s going to be very exciting… Hope to see you there this weekend. There’s still time to buy a ticket.

   This is wonderful! Has this been done before and will it be done again in the Cincinnati area? Does St. Jude select a different city each year?
