Realtor versus FSBO

Everybody is looking for the championship match of Realtor vs FSBO (For Sale by Owner)!
Put on the gloves, jump in the ring and wait for the bell….. oh wait-there isn’t going to be a fight? According to a recent email… “Realtors are useless, money grabbing, blah, blah blah” and the individual who emailed me thought he had the answer for everybody when it comes to selling real estate. According to him-”He has put millions into consumer’s pockets”.
Normally I ignore these diatribes, because, after all everybody is entitled to their opinion. To me real estate, as well as most things in life, is a matter of choice. Just because I know how to paint, change the oil in my car and trim trees, I have chosen to engage professionals to provide these services. Yes they cost more-but I don’t view paying for their time and effort as a problem. I’m glad to pay for services when I perceive value…
Good news- today’s economy offers the public a variety of business models for real estate. All the consumer has to do is to investigate the options and select the “real estate service” that best meets their needs.
As for the big battle between Realtors and FSBO’s…let’s face it- many sellers can handle the emotional roller coaster ride to sell their property - and they should handle the sale of their home or condo.
