Squirrels get ready for winter- so why don’t homeowners?
Good question. It’s beyond time to winterize your home or condo, however many home owners haven’t done anything. “Be Aware” with the coming freeze- today may be your last day to take care of your real estate in West Chester, Fairfield or Cincinnati.
Absentee homeowners, relying on neighbors or realtors to check on properties, may be in for a big surprise this week. Plummeting temperatures cause normally well behaved homes to become troublesome.
Winterizing is the key to success!
If you real estate is empty- you have moved out or are seeking warmer ground for the winter months- the property needs to be professionally winterized. A plumber will drain the pipes and fill with anti freeze. By taking the proactive step of winterizing, owners can protect themselves against frozen pipes rupturing and creating havoc with the property.
Even if you are living in the property-don’t forget to winterize the exterior faucets. Many homeowners make the fatal mistake of leaving the garden hose connected to an exterior faucet- only to find problems in the spring when they go to water the lawn. The hose froze during the winter months causing an unseen pipe crack. The unsuspecting homeowner turns on their hose in April-and then discovers water running into their basement.
Don’t get “burned” by cold weather problems and remember your neighbor or realtor are not responsible for checking every pipe everyday- so get your home winterized now.
